Debra draws on her depth of experience in jazz, Latin and klezmer genres to bring forth an original, soulful voice in saxophone and clarinet performance and composition. Evoking the introspective and penetrating sound and tradition of Paul Desmond, her playing offers a highly melodic, angular approach to improvisation, while her compositions reveal her strong, lyrical sensibility and perceptive approach to harmony.
A long-time featured member of award-winning, New York City-based ensembles, she has emerged as a leader in her own right, presenting original and standard jazz repertoire with the refreshing perspective of a talented new voice in jazz.
